Bonginhlanhla Ncube decided that the time to make his first proudly Mzansi feature film was now, after years of planning. Already on our silver screens “Mr B’s” film ‘48’ tells a tale of a bizarre yet interesting and twisted journey about a man given only 48 hours to live.
The film was shot and set in Pretoria and stars some of Mzansi’s finest young actors like Muvhango’s Milicent Tshiwela Makhado, Karabo Lance, Godfrey Thobejane, Jeffrey Sekele and Khulu Skenjane.
The story is about an average hard working, family man named Leader, who is one day diagnosed with a deadly disease. His only chance at survival comes at a cost of half a million rand which he needs to have ready in a matter of hours. The film takes us into a serious, and at times comical, action packed adventure into finding the money, reuniting with his brother – a thug – and trying to get a second chance at life. The movie won’t appeal to everyone but will indeed entertain the majority.
The 50 minute film tackles the ethical and moral decay that needs to be re-looked at by a society governed by money, sex and greed. So, does Leader get the money? Does he survive? You tell me!
