The birth of Kasi Times marked the time that I took the leap to start following my dreams. I’d wanted to start up a business that would revolve around something I’m passionate about. Kasi Times, to me, embodies love, passion, and determination. I’m blessed to have a team that shares my vision for this magazine. It is through this ever-growing team that Kasi Times has formed a life of its own, surpassing what I’d initially envisioned, and becoming one of the most relevant youth publications in South Africa online and on print. Yes, watch out for our mobile app too. We’ll be taking over that space soon!
I’m passionate about this magazine: I get to meet inspiring young people; I work with great writers, designers and photographers, and our readers believe in our work. I’m constantly learning about the industry, and about myself.
I suppose for me it all started through a series of circumstances, where the ‘forces’ were aligned to a point where I had no excuse not to start. The business idea was there and I no longer had the comfort and disillusion-of-security of the guaranteed pay check at the end of every month. I had a choice after taking time off to look after my children: get back to corporate or start a business. I made my choice, took the risk, thus Kasi Times exists. Sometimes we over-analyse and get caught up in the reasons why we’re not ready to follow our own paths. But, once we do take that leap, though challenging, it’s empowering, liberating, fulfilling and worth it!
I thank those who believe in #Team_Kasi_Times. Again, look out for us on print, on our website, on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook… and soon as a mobi app, and we’re going national – watch this space!
